Empowering Awareness

As a Girl Scout, you go through many steps to get to completing your Gold Award. Learning all the valuable skills in Girl Scouts has allowed me to be here today, in educating others on the impact teenage suicide has on our society. Spreading awareness on this topic is difficult, due to the weight this topic holds. The thought of teenage suicide is pushed away and is neglected in the sense it is too harsh to be talked about. However, this leads to the isolation and lack of ability to talk to others when one is struggling. When dealing with thoughts of completing suicide, just remember that tomorrow is a new day and life changes overtime. Things will get better even if they don’t seem like they will today, but they might tomorrow. As Robin Williams once talked about, temporary problems don’t deserve permanent solutions.
