As a dedicated Girl Scout aiming to achieve my Gold Award, I am determined to raise awareness about Teenage Suicide and help educate individuals about this critical issue.
Empowering through Awareness
Hi. My name is Samantha Nieves, and I have been a Girl Scout for 12 years. Throughout my time as a Girl Scout I have been taught invaluable lessons like leadership, advocacy, raising awareness, and resourcefulness. Above all, the most important lesson I’ve been taught is helping those in need. As my Girl Scout journey comes to an end, I am doing my Gold Award on raising awareness to help advocate and help those in need. Achieving my goal, in educating people on Teenage Suicide. This so far has been more than just a project; it's my commitment to share the experiences of families who have endured the unimaginable loss of a young loved one to suicide.
As listed below, I have a few resources to help share the stories of those who have lost their Teens to suicide, to help show why it is so urgent I spread awareness on this issue. In my resources you will find links to two videos, the website for the Mary Elise Foundation, and the website to the Do It For James Foundation. Mary Elise completed suicide and her father was able to create a documentary with me, to help share his story along with his daughters. Lastly, Do It For James Foundation, helps to spread awareness on James Woods who completed suicide due to sextortion.
“Temporary problems, to permanent solutions.” - Robin Williams. Things WILL get better and you are worth so much. I hope because of my project as a Girl Scout, helps at least one person.

Short Animated Video
Throughout my journey in this topic, I wanted to educate Teens by breaking down the topic into a short, but maybe relatable video. It is short but portrays what some teenagers might deal with when it comes to isolation.
